Can a borehole pump be included in the value of the building or contents?

If the pump is solely to supply water to the house, it is considered as being part of the building. By insuring the building, the value of the pump should automatically be included in its capital. However, in no situation, pumps can be insured if they are used for pumping water destined to be used in other activities such as commercial, agriculture or livestock.

What discerns a main residence from a secondary residence?

A main residence is where the policy holder lives on a permanent basis and where his domestic economy is based and organized. Therefore the criteria to assess whether a household is permanent is not only the number of days it is occupied, but also the criteria mentioned above.

Having the policy holder, more than one permanent or main residence in the terms above - uncommon situations – are considered as permanent the ones that are not empty for a period  over  90 days per  year. Commonly known as second homes,  week-end and vacation houses, as well as others which do not meet the definition of Permanent Residence, are considered as non-permanent residence or second home, when they are empty for a period, consecutively or intermittently, of more than 90 days.
